More than 20 Million Americans Are Affected by Nasal Airway Obstruction1
Do you have the following symptoms?
- Nasal congestion or stuffiness
- Nasal blockage or obstruction
- Trouble breathing through your nose
- Trouble sleeping
- Inability to get enough air through your nose during exercise or exertion
TRY THE SIMPLE COTTLE TEST – Does your breathing improve when you pull on your cheek to hold your nostril to the side?
If yes, talk to Dr. Jourdy about options to support your lateral nasal cartilage, which may include the LATERA implant. Nasal airway obstruction affects more than 20 million Americans1 and can occur because of a structural abnormality in the nose or because of inflammation and swelling of the nasal passages. With nasal breathing delivering approximately 70% of airflow to the lungs,2 any blockage that limits airflow can cause significant quality-of-life consequences.3
LATERA
LATERA® is an absorbable nasal implant used to support the upper and lower cartilage inside the lateral (side) wall of your nose. Supporting the cartilage may reduce nasal airway obstruction symptoms and help you breathe better.4,5 During the procedure, Dr. Jourdy carefully determines the proper placement site for the implants to provide for optimal support to reduce collapse of the lateral nasal wall and nasal congestion. The implants are then carefully placed under the skin on one or both side. Talk to Dr. Jourdy to find out if LATERA could be right for you.
LATERA Results
LATERA may help you breathe better with little risk of changes to appearance.5 LATERA showed significant quality-of-life improvement for nasal obstruction patients with lateral wall or nasal valve collapse, as measured by the NOSE survey.4,5 Patients experienced a reduction in nasal obstruction symptoms of 57.7% at 2 years, as measured by the NOSE survey.4,6 Patients achieved these results without negative cosmetic effects.
A clinical study shows that LATERA patients demonstrate5:
- Reduced nasal congestion or stuffiness
- Less trouble breathing through the nose
- Improved ability to get enough air through the nose during exercise or exertion
- Reduced nasal blockage or obstruction
- Less trouble sleeping
Risks included temporary symptoms such as mild bruising and inflammation, awareness of the implant, and mild pain or irritation. Other risks related to the LATERA implant included discomfort, infection, reaction to material, and need for device retrieval.
